Chinese New Year 2020

Chinese new year falls on January 25 this year, and it is the start of a new zodiac cycle, beginning with the year of the rat. For the past few years I made red packets to give out for Chinese New Year. It first started with red paper and scissors, and then upgraded to fancy cutouts with my Silhouette Cameo. This year, I wanted to make a simple version that can be easily cut with a craft knife or scissors, but looks professional. Afterall, that is the job of a designer, to simplify without losing function and looks. I sketched bouquets of Gardenia and made it into a background. Then I sketched the red packet that be cut quickly. I printed mine on a shimmery red paper. It can be customized to include family names, to and from, also resized to make a smaller red packet or size up to make it bigger. You can download the free template below. If you want to buy some ready made ones, or have some custom made, please go to my etsy shop.

Enjoy.
